Tomlin Says No Chance In AB Returning To The Steelers

As if I hadn’t already let this be known once former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver, Antonio Brown posted that infamous tweet about wanting retire in the Black & Gold. It turns out that head coach, Mike Tomlin feels the same way as a true Steelers fans should.
Coach Tomlin made an appearance on..”The Pivotal Podcast”..and when asked about the return of AB84 to Pittsburgh his response was short and to the point:
“Y’all know that ain’t happening.”
Although Tomlin didn’t necessarily state that a one-day contract was out of the conversation, he did insinuate that as being such without saying it.
“In terms of putting a helmet on and running out of the tunnel and playing ball and stuff like that, man, he’s moved on, we’ve moved on. We can sit around and chop that up and pretend like that’s a realistic conversation, but we all know that’s not realistic, man.“
Was Brown a very talented and intrical part of the Steelers offense? Yes indeed he was..’WAS!” But on his way out the door he burned s many bridges they can never be repaired. Not just with the Rooneys, but with the organization..the coaches..the players and the fans.
Personally I do not want Antonio Brown back..not even for one day to retire as a Pittsburgh Steeler. He disrespected the organization and every organization after us, so why should we re-cater to this Diva’s demands? Screw That! #HereWeGo
NO..AB84 DOES NOT DESERVE TO RETIRE A STEELER

Look..I get it. Former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver, Antonio Brown did a lot for the organization during his nine year career in “The Burgh.” Amassing 11,207 yards and 74 touchdowns. He also was an intricate part in the success of now retired and future Hall of Fame quarterback, “Big” Ben Roethlisberger. Something that us Steelers fans will most definitely never forget.
We will also never forget the hit that former Cincinnati Bengals linebacker, Vontaze Burfict put on Brown basically rebooting his brain. Setting it immediately into Diva Mode and pretty much placing a cancer in the locker room.
It all started during the final week of the 2018 season versus the AFC North rival Baltimore Ravens when, AB84 went to head coach Mike Tomlin on the sidelines with this lame ass complaint:
“I’m a little banged up. So, I meet with Coach Tomlin and I’m telling him like, hey, man, I’m a little banged up. So, I’m going to need a little time to get right. So, he’s like, if you’re banged up, man, just, you know, you, you can just go home.”
“I’m a little banged up?” Does he think that he was the only player that on that field who was banged up that day? You see..that’s where the “ME” mentality of Brown kicked in. Claiming to need time to recover in a game with Playoff Implications. That’s not what teammates do to one another. Roethlisberger was banged up all season..he never asked for a break.

I am sure everyone else knows about the words he spoke about Roethlisberger and the Rooneys as well. Basically throwing the entire Pittsburgh Steelers organization under the bus with his insane accusations. So I see no reason why that same organization should honor him with the chance to retire a Steeler.
He ruined the Steelers locker room, he dicked the Oakland Raiders out of millions, he disrupted the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (which I can care less about) leaving his final game in the NFL versus the New York Jets. He also dissed Tampa Bay quarterback, Tom Brady on his way out the door.
Case in point, Antonio Brown “DOES NOT” deserve to retire in the “Black & Gold!” He has not shown the prowess or the class of the Pittsburgh Steelers players before him. In my opinion..he should just retire with an NFL logo behind him. #SteelersWorld1
Who Has The Better Chance Of Becoming Steelers #1 QB

This has been a question looming around since the signing the 2nd overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, Mitch Trubisky. At the time the Pittsburgh Steelers expected a three-way competition between two other quarterbacks, Mason Rudolph and the late Dwayne Haskins(RIP).
But now with the drafting of University of Pittsburgh quarterback Kenny Pickett, the competition/battle is back on according to Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin.
“I expect it to be fierce because I know all three guys. I don’t expect anyone to take a backseat,” Tomlin told NFL Network’s Rich Eisen on The Rich Eisen Show Wednesday. “The challenge is from a structure standpoint. Are we providing enough of a platform for all the guys to show what they’re capable of? And so that’s going to be the challenge component of it. I’m excited about watching these guys compete, just like I am at any position where you’ve got some viable options. So, we will proceed with that understanding that it’s going to be challenging from an organization standpoint, but it’s a good challenge and I’m excited about watching those guys perform.”
SO LET US EXAMINE :
MASON RUDOLPH:

It is no secret that I am not a big fan of Mason Rudolph, basically because he reminds me of a previous quarterback named Landry Jones, who just couldn’t seem to get it right.
He has a mediocre record in 10 starts amassing a 5-4-1 record, throwing for 2,331 yards..16 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. But the main reason I believe he should not..and will not be the starting QB is because he CAN’T BEAT THE CLEVELAND BROWNS! Hasn’t..and probably never will.
Being Rudolph is not as mobile as the other two quarterbacks in this competition, not to mention a fourth QB in Chris Oladokun drafted out of South Dakota State. I honestly see him being traded unless he makes some major improvements. Giving Mason a ➖ once again, because I just don’t think he has it.
MITCH TRUBISKY:

After being drafted by the Chicago Bears in the first round (2nd overall) in the 2017 draft, Trubisky has had his good times and his bad times on the NFL football field.
In his four seasons with Chicago, he accumulated a very respectable 10,519 yards, 64 touchdowns and 37 interceptions were the good times.. After being traded to the Buffalo Bills in 2021 stepping in for another former first round pick, Josh Allen, Trubisky hit the bad times. But a change of scenery can always help.
The plus side is, since 2018 Trubisky is 25-13 as a starter and is a perfect 3-0 versus the AFC North. All of which were against every other team but the Pittsburgh Steelers. So that is definitely a big ➕ for me.
KENNY PICKETT:

Pickett, the 20th overall pick in the 2022 NFL draft by the Pittsburgh Steelers was considered to be the “Most NFL Ready” quarterback available. Obviously, since he was the only QB drafted in the first round, but negative talks about his hand size caused a lot of disagreements in the team’s pick.
During his time at Pitt from 2017 to 2021, Kenny passed for 12,303 yards, 81 touchdowns and 32 interceptions. Ending with a 138.3 rating, averaging 7.3 yards per pass. Cap it off with 723 total rushing yards just adds to the ➕ side.
What makes Pickett a viable #1 starter for the Steelers is that his numbers since a freshman at Pitt have done nothing but go up. Going from 1969 yards as the starter as a sophomore, to 4,319 yards as a senior. The issue about his small hands was debunked during his Pro Day.
In short, the quarterback battle is basically going to be between Mitch Trubisky and Kenny Pickett, with Mason Rudolph and Chris Oladokun looking to fill the 3rd spot. Let me know your thoughts below. #HereWeGo
F*** Google Nose Richard Sherman..Pickett Will Prevail In Pittsburgh

Ok, so recently former Seattle Seahawks, San Francisco 49ers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers washed up defensive back, Richard Sherman had some words against the Pittsburgh Steelers first round draft pick quarterback, Kenny Pickett.
“Do I think he’s the quarterback of the future? I don’t know. It’s hard for me to trust a quarterback who wears gloves all the time. It’s just different. It’s just different. I just, I have hard time with it.”
First of all who cares what an aging, now mediocre cornerback has to say about a quarterback wearing gloves all the time? If anything. .if he was still relivent..should relish a quarterback he doesn’t trust, since Sherman is a defensive player.
But then, Richard went on to back peddle and give props to Pickett, as well as compliment on what the Steelers have been able to do with developing players.
“But he slings it. He’s effective and we’ll see how effective he is in Pittsburgh. They do a great job developing guys,” Sherman said. “They haven’t had another quarterback under center starting consistently since Ben Roethlisberger. I mean, Ben’s been there for what, 13 years, 14 years, something like that? And so, so that’ll be interesting.”
However, Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin had a different take on Pickett’s glove wearing (to get a better grip on the ball) and hand size (8 1/2 inches).
“I potentially was capable of buying into that if I didn’t watch him play college football in Pittsburgh, and dealing with the elements that comes with playing in this environment,” Tomlin said on The Rich Eisen Show. “You can get into the hand size thing, or you can just look at how he performed in a variety of conditions, and we have those conditions here in Pittsburgh. So, there’s very little speculation from our perspective about how he might handle the ball in inclement weather, wet days, etcetera.”
So basically Richard Sherman’s words mean nothing. Just bitterness because the Pittsburgh Steelers were not interested in picking him up..in my opinion. #HereWeGo
VIDEOS: Tomlin’s Call To Pickett..Pickett’s Response to Steelers Fans
“Kenny, whats up? Hey, whatchu doing tonight man? Ya’ll watching tv? What ya’ll got going on? You ready, you ready to come back to Oakland? Hey we’re about to make you a Pittsburgh Steeler brother. Congratulations to you and your family. Bro we’re excited to have you. Man this is awesome.”
“Whats up Steelers fans, can’t wait to get there, back home honestly tomorrow and get to work next door. It’s a dream come true, and I’m chasing my dreams and we’re going to win a Super Bowl soon,”
Dan Rooney Jr: The Unsung Scouting Hero

“THE STANDARD IS THE STANDARD.”
We all know the names..Art Rooney, Dan Rooney, Mike Tomlin, Kevin Colbert and Art Rooney II..but how many Steelers fans know the name Dan Rooney Jr.?
Son of the late Daniel Rooney Sr, Jr started off as the ball boy for the Pittsburgh Steelers back in the 1970’s. Working his way up to work for now recently inducted Hall of Fame equipment manager, Tony Parisi. Dan Jr. then went on to work in the ticket office for a few months, before becoming a part of the scouting department in 1997.
Starting his scouting career with the pick of former Steelers guard and Hall of Famer, Alan Faneca out of Louisiana State University. Dan also scouted now Pittsburgh quarterback, Mitch Trubisky back in 2017 at the University of North Carolina. Believing that Trubisky brings that Black & Gold mentality on and off the field.
Almost 20 years before Trubisky, Dan Jr. had his eyes set on an undrafted running back out of UNC, “Fast” Willie Parker. An undrafted free agent back in 2004 who set history by busting out a 75 yard touchdown run in Super Bowl XL versus the Seattle Seahawks.
Now moving forward to present day. With the 2022 NFL Draft starting tomorrow, Rooney Jr. has mentioned certain quarterbacks the Steelers have focused on. Those quarterbacks being Pitt University’s Kenny Pickett, Liberty University’s Malik Willis(enjoyed dinner with him and his family), Ole Miss’s Matt Corral, Desmond Ridder at Cincinnati and UNC’s Sam Howell.

Notice in the video how Dan Rooney Jr emphasized on how he “Enjoyed dinner with Malik Willis and his family”? Did he mention that about any other of the quarterbacks? Nope.
Segway into the true topic of this blog. Yes, it is about the Unsung Scout, Dan Rooney Jr, who started from the bottom even as a part owner of the Pittsburgh Steelers. But also to let you know that Malik Willis will be our draft choice in the 1st round. #HereWeGo
THE QUARTERBACK WEEK:
Who Should Be Big Ben’s Predecessor For 2022 And Beyond

I have never been one to beat around the bush or pull any punches when it comes to dissecting the needs of the Pittsburgh Steelers. So please don’t think that this will change, especially since it is a very serious topic that needs to be discussed.
It’s no secret. Steelers quarterback, “BIG” Ben Roethlisberger is retiring after eighteen(18) incredible seasons. All of which he had finished with the record of .500 or above. A task unmatched by even the supposed G.O.A.T’s (insert names here).
But anyway, back to the topic at hand. Who should be the Pittsburgh Steelers starting quarterback from here on out. Let us examine.
MASON RUDOLPH: Oklahoma State..Drafted in 2018 by Pittsburgh Steelers

Since being drafted, Rudolph has accumulated a 5-4 record as a starter due to a Roethlisberger injury and positive COVID-19 test last season during the final game versus the Cleveland Browns. A game in which the Steelers lost 24-22.
Rewind to 2020 to the infamous “Helmet Bashing Game” when Mason had his dome smashed by his own helmet used by Cleveland Browns DE, Myles Garrett. Who is still a BITCH in my book. Yet..another game lost to the Browns by Rudolph.
“It’s knowing I can be a bit more myself and be the leader I’ve always been at the quarterback position,” Rudolph said Wednesday, “and not worried about stepping on the toes of a longtime Hall of Fame player. All of those things excite me.”
Mason, you were NEVER going to step on the toes of Ben Roethlisberger. The man has done more in his rookie year than you have done as a starter. So don’t give yourself praise you haven’t earned.
CASE IN POINT: If you are going to be the starting quarterback for the Pittsburgh Steelers, you have to be able to beat the Cleveland Browns. Mason Rudolph has not shown the ability to do so. VOTE: NO
DWAYNE HASKINS: Ohio State..Drafted 1st Round..15th Pick in 2019 by Washington Redskins(Football Team)
Just going to call it like it is. Dwayne Haskins since being drafted out of Ohio State (my rival college Michigan) has never really had the opportunity to show his true potential. I mean look at the team he was drafted by, and the head coach running the show. No quarterback could succeed under such a “SHIT SHOW!”
Head coach, Ron Rivera benched Haskins one day after a loss to Rivera’s former team the Carolina Panthers. The thing is, Riverboat Ron didn’t know how to utilize Dwayne like he did Cam Newton when the Panthers made it to Super Bowl L(50) in 2016.
I believe Haskins can become the starter for the Steelers..but it is not my call.
CASE IN POINT: Haskins has really never gotten the opportunity to show off his talents in the NFL. Give him an organization like the Steelers and a HC like Mike Tomlin and he can succeed. VOTE: Perhaps 50/50
AS FAR AS VEGAS ODDS:
- Mason Rudolph: +275
- Derek Carr: +700
- Jimmy Garoppolo: +750
- Jameis Winston: +900
- Kenny Pickett: +1000
- Matt Corral: +1000
- Kirk Cousins: +1100
- Ryan Fitzpatrick: +1100
- Dwayne Haskins: +1200
- Malik Willis: +1200
- Russell Wilson: +1200
Personally, I see Derek Carr, Jimmy Garoppolo and even Kirk Cousins as a viable free agent pick up. But don’t count out Aaron Rodgers. Let me know who you think is worthy to be Ben Roethlisberger’s predecessor below. #HereWeGo
RUDOLPH OR HASKINS: Who Should Be Backup To Big Ben

Let’s get it out in the open. Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback, Ben Roethlisberger is getting older and will not be their quarterback forever. So my question is..who will be his backup in 2021?
I understand we all have our ideas of who should be at the helm should Roethlisberger go down (GOD FORBID)..but we have to keep that aspect in mind. So with that, let’s dig into a couple of facts on each quarterback option.
MASON RUDOLPH: Third Round..#76 In 2018 Draft

I am not going to beat around the bush, Mason Rudolph was not welcomed with open arms when he was drafted in 2018 by the Steelers. But light came to his drafting when fellow Oklahoma State University wide receiver, James Washington was tossed into the mix. A combination that never came to fruition.
Rudolph has had going on 4 years to prove himself worthy of being Big Ben’s predecessor, but has actually shown very little improvement. I mean..let’s be honest, the only thing we remember Mason accomplishing was getting helmet smacked by Cleveland Browns linebacker, Myles Garrett.
Not saying Mason is not a “decent” quarterback, although former Steelers backup, Devlin “Duck” Hodges had a more impressive run due to his injury. Just saying he hasn’t impressed whatsoever.
In 15 total games, Rudolph has accumulated 2089 yards, 15 touchdowns with 10 interceptions. Not bad numbers, but where is the flash? What game do we really remember Mason taking control? There is none.
DWAYNE HASKINS: First Round..#15 In 2019 Draft

Although Haskins may not have been all that productive with the Washington Redskins/Football Team, he wasn’t really surrounded by any top notch talent. Not to mention the sub-par coaching staff, but all of that can change in Pittsburgh.
ROETHLISBERGER ON HASKINS: “I was just telling Coach [Mike Sullivan] the other day that his release and throwing motion mechanics are some of the prettiest I’ve ever seen. I told him, I wish I had that. Just everything he does. And he throws the ball, I joked he could throw it through a car wash and it wouldn’t get wet.”
Pretty high praise for the future Hall of Famer, and something I never heard Big Ben say about Rudolph. Then again I never heard any positive words about Mason Rudolph out of Roethlisberger’s mouth. Either that or I must have missed it.
Look..I understand that Haskins’ 2804 yards and 12 touchdowns isn’t all that to stand up and clap about, but keep in mind that was with lesser targets in a 2 year..12 game span. As far as his attitude is concerned? Head coach Mike Tomlin is extremely capable of toning down that aspect. Fact is Dwayne has First Round Talent, it just needs to be honed in by a future Hall of Fame coach like Tomlin.
Long story short..I believe Dwayne Haskins will beat out Mason Rudolph for the #2 spot. This preseason will show Haskins value with his arm strength and mobility. But what do you think? Leave a comment down below telling me who should back up Big Ben and why. #HereWeGo
